Each Thursday from 3:00 – 4:00, scholars in 1st grade to 8th grade have an opportunity to participate in an enrichment class of their choice. Forms will be sent home with scholars within the first month of school. This form will provide scholars with a list of all enrichment classes to choose from. They will make their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice selections and be placed accordingly.
This is an amazing opportunity which the scholars thoroughly enjoy and thrive in. Desert Trails encourages all scholars to stay on Thursdays until 4:00 pm to allow them to participate.
DTPA CHEER TEAM
Desert Trails Preparatory Academy is proud to have our own award winning cheer team. We have a primary team for 2nd and 3rd graders and an intermediate team for 4th – 8th graders. Both boys and girls are invited to try-out at the beginning of the year. Once on the team, scholars learn cheer technique, sportsmanship, and dedication on Thursdays during enrichment and on select Saturdays. They learn cheers and dance routines that are performed at our school Winter Program, Spring Program, state-wide competitions, and other school-wide events.
Desert Trails has a variety of academic events for scholars to participate in:
Science Expo (TK-8th grade)
Spelling Bee (K-6th grade)
Battle of the Books Reading Competition (Grades 3-6)
Amazon Future Engineer Program (Grade 7-8)
As more information becomes available it will be posted.
RED RIBBON WEEK
Desert Trails Preparatory Academy takes this week to discuss the importance of saying no to drugs and ways to stay healthy. We have a door decorating contest, wear red ribbons, and have thematic dress days like the following:
Sock it to Drugs – wear crazy socks
Turn your back to drugs – wear your school clothes backwards
