EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAM

ENRICHMENT CLASSES

Each Thursday from 3:00 – 4:00, scholars in 1st grade to 6th grade have an opportunity to participate in an enrichment class of their choice. Forms will be sent home with scholars within the first month of school.  This form will provide scholars with a list of all enrichment classes to choose from.  They will make their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice selections and be placed accordingly.

This is an amazing opportunity which the scholars thoroughly enjoy and thrive in.  Desert Trails encourages all scholars to stay on Thursdays until 4:00 pm to allow them to participate.

DTPA CHEER TEAM

Desert Trails Preparatory Academy is proud to have our own award winning cheer team.  We have a primary team for 2nd and 3rd graders and an intermediate team for 4th – 6th graders.  Both boys and girls are invited to try-out at the beginning of the year.  Once on the team, scholars learn cheer technique, sportsmanship, and dedication on Thursdays during enrichment and on select Saturdays.  They learn cheers and dance routines that are performed at our school Winter Program, Spring Program, state-wide competitions, and other school-wide events.

ACADEMIC EVENTS

Desert Trails has a variety of academic events for scholars to participate in:

Science Expo (TK-6th grade)
Spelling Bee (TK-6th grade)
Battle of the Books Reading Competition (Grades 3-6)
Mission Expo (4th Grade)
As more information becomes available it will be posted.

MUSIC PROGRAM

Each year, Desert Trails Preparatory Academy music teacher, puts together a Winter and Spring Program.  Each scholar gets to perform what they have been learning in music class for all of our families.  This wonderful event is so popular that it must be held off-campus.  All DTPA families are invited and encouraged to come out and enjoy all of the hard work that our scholars have achieved.

RED RIBBON WEEK

Desert Trails Preparatory Academy takes this week to discuss the importance of saying no to drugs and ways to stay healthy.  We have a door decorating contest, wear red ribbons, and have thematic dress days like the following:

Sock it to Drugs – wear crazy socks
Turn your back to drugs – wear your school clothes backwards
